New Loom Project: Sampler Afghan

IMG_1548

Okay folks! Sorry for the delay. I needed a little break from my last project before moving onto the next one. I haven’t started it yet, but I wanted to take a quick moment to unveil what I will be working on next. Can anyone say “Afghan”?

That’s right, you guessed it! I am going to be working on creating a loom knitted afghan!

Here a sneak-peak at this Afghan Sampler pattern from my loom knitting book.

Doesn’t this look great! Each square in the pattern is designed to teach you a new loom knitting technique as you go along. I can’t wait to begin creating each square and stitching these little babies together. This should be fun!

Until next time…

A Scarf and Hat set for little 'o me

IMG_1551

Look what a couple of weeks of dedicated loom knitting can produce! Viola! A hat and scarf set for little o’ me! Hooray!

Up until now, I absolutely hated switching back and forth between colors. Even when I was avidly crocheting. It boils down to one thing – weaving in ends. I loathe weaving in ends!

Thanks to my nifty new loom knitting book, I was shown and easy way to carry and hide different colorways between rows. No snipping, no ends to weave in. YES!

Both of these projects whipped up pretty quickly considering I still have my nine-to-five job and other art related projects I work on.

Now that I have built confidence in creating this set, I think I will move onto another project. Now I just need to decide what that will be?

Until next post…

New Looms & New Book

IMG_1547

Hey! What’s this? More looms? How many kinds can there be?

Well, I found myself once again in the yarn aisle at one of my favorite craft stores and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a little round loom for me to make more projects with this year!

This little guy was the last one left in the store for the Knifty Knitter series looms. For all of you loom knitters out there, I was sadden to hear that this company was sold to Boye who is not producing the same quality looms that Knifty Knitter was known for. Oh well. At least I have this one. Mine! I tell you! Mine!

The real reason I went to the store was to purchase this awesome loom knitting book-

This book has so many patterns and tutorials that I can’t wait to dive in and start making something. Like I alluded to in my previous post I think it’s time to make a hat and scarf set for me.

Hopefully the next post I will unveil my little creation.

Until next time…

More Looms!

IMG_1545Hey loom knitters! Look who just hit the jackpot courtesy of her beloved mom! My mom heard I was now doing loom knitting and offered to give me her old round loom set. How could I refuse and offer like that! So I drove the 20 plus miles to get the new-to-me loom set right away from my mom.

Now I am really excited to start knitting on these new round looms. Think of all the projects I can create with them – hats, scarves, bags and more!

Wait, what’s this? My husband wants a new hat and scarf?  No problem! I know have the tools! Stay tuned for the unveiling of my next finished project…

Holiday Hiatus-New Loom Knitting Set

IMG_1544

Well, the holidays have just passed and all the craziness is now behind me. Now I finally can have some “me” time. This sounds selfish – I know. Anyway, part of having some “me” time is using some of the lovely gift cards and money I received as gifts – yeah me. So after a trip to my local craft store I became be-dazzled by the array of knitting tools available to a-would-be-knitter. Suffice to say I am now a proud owner of my very own Knifty Knitter long-loom knitting set! I have been playing around with the idea of getting a loom set since it seems so much easier to knit with. Time will only tell. Armed with my little Knifty Knitter booklet, I am ready to begin my first little project to be unveiled as soon as I finish it. FYI- to state for the record, I have not given up on traditional knitting, but for now I think loom knitting is the right fit for me to complete all the wonderful little projects I have in mind. I will give a full report on what I think of loom knitting in the next post. Until next time…
