I have very fond memories of creating this journal page. First of all, my husband on my birthday gave me one of my greatest gifts. My very first Zentangle book! In case you are wondering, the book was titled “Zentangle Untangled” by Kass Hall. As you may have already guessed, lately most of my art has revolved around this relaxing art form. Upon reading this book and drawing my first tangle, I was hooked!
On a quick side-note, if you are not sure what Zentangle is all about, check out my brief explanation on my About page or visit the official Zentangle.com website for more information.
Anyway, this journal page was dedicated to the first tangle I learned called “Cabin Floor”. The pattern was very easy to learn and draw on my own. It totally started me down the tangling path. At the time, I thought it would be great to include Chinese characters in my journal page that mirrored the mood I was in when I drew it. I chose the word “zen” since that was the feeling that was evoked when creating it.
After all is said and done, I was so very happy with my new book and my new-found inspiration- Zentangle.
Thank you for sharing in this special memory with me. Until next week…
Denielle Noe
Love your work and thanks for sharing your story. One Birthday present led to this. How awesome is that? Can’t wait to see the next one!
