Day Thirteen, Creation Thirteen

Photo

Sorry for my little hiatus everyone. What can I say? A music event of epic proportions took over my life the entire weekend. What is this awesome music festival you ask? Lollapalooza! Lollapalooza is a fantastic musical event where over 70 bands perform for three days in Chicago. Great bands, rock ‘in music and all-around fun equals little time for posting.

However, I did manage to still journal and continue my daily Zentangle tile quest during the time spent listening to Lolla’s inspiring music.

Day 13 entailed a unique challenge of using “deconstructing” and “morphing” techniques within the same tile. Deconstructing simple means that after starting a pattern, you begin to fragment the form; making it appear to fall apart. The deconstruction of a pattern allows for an additional technique of morphing to be used. Morphing is just starting with one pattern and having it subtly change or shift into another similar or complimentary pattern.

Using both of these techniques together helps draw in the viewer and move the eye around the tile. I will say that I am not sure if I was entirely successful in combining both techniques, but I did find that these added a new way for me to combine patterns and think about how patterns can work together.

This piece utilized one new tangle called Onamato which was fun to learn and create. Accompanying Onamato was Hollibaugh, Shattuck, Tipple, Flux and Fescu.

I invite feedback or comments, so please let me know what you are thinking out there.

As always, I hope you “like” this post…

Day Seven, Creation Seven

I had a great time with today’s theme: Tangleations! What is a Tangleation you ask? It’s where you take already learned tangles and combine them to make a new tangle variation. It’s like a music mash-up without a melody.

At first, I thought this challenge would be hard- deciding which tangles to combine, how I would combine them, etc. However, once I started creating one, more followed quickly. Before I knew it, I had 6 new Tangleations under my belt!

Here is the list of tangles I used to create each new Tangleation: Fescu, Knightsbridge, Nekton, Crescent Moon, Static, Hollibaugh, Pokeroot, Festune, Scoodle, and Isochor. Can you guess which ones I combined together in the tile above?

As always I hope you “like” this post!

Have an awesome evening!

Day Three, Creation Three

photo 3I know, I know- I missed posting yesterday. Unfortunately, life had a way of getting in the way of creating art sometimes. But never fear, day three is finally here. This fun little tile features a new tangle called “Festune” and two other official Zentangles called “Hollibaugh” and “Poke Root”.

Thanks for viewing!
